Steps to Safe Driving

Automobile accidents occur in industrial areas, in open areas, in rural areas, in urban areas, and in residential areas. No matter where you are, when you are behind the wheel you must be alert, cautious, and courteous to avoid accidents.

Driving is merley a repetition of three basic actions: See – think – do. Another way of saying this is , perceive – predict – perform.

You must perceive trouble.
You must predict what action is necessary .
You must perform such action — in time.

If you carry out the see-think-do actions correctly you can prevent involvement in any accident situation. It is important to know how to look properly – where and when to look – and how to choose your path wisely as you check the traffic picture.

Good perception is necessary to become a safe driver. Your eyes provided more than 90 % of the information you need in order to cope with traffic and the unpredictable actions of other drivers.

Skid marks at accident scenes indicate that trouble was seen but too late ! The driver was probably even going too fast for the conditions.
